Risk Disclosure

RULED exists because trading is risky and discipline is hard. Neither of those facts changes because you installed an app. Please read this before you rely on it.

Draft — pending legal review

This document is a working draft prepared for review by a qualified lawyer. It is not legal advice and it is not in force. Every value in square brackets still has to be filled in, and the whole text has to be checked against the jurisdictions RULED will actually operate in.

1. Trading involves substantial risk

Trading financial instruments carries a high level of risk and can result in the loss of some or all of your capital. Do not trade with money you cannot afford to lose.

Leveraged products can magnify losses rapidly. Depending on the instrument, your client classification and your jurisdiction, losses may in some cases exceed the margin or the amount initially committed. Retail CFD accounts in the European Union are subject to the applicable negative-balance protections, which limit your total liability on that account to the funds it holds.

2. RULED does not reduce market risk

RULED governs your behaviour, not the market. It is designed to help you follow the loss limits you set; it cannot make a loss smaller, prevent a gap against your position, or protect you from a strategy that does not work. A perfectly disciplined trader following a losing plan will still lose money.

3. No advice, no signals, no recommendations

RULED does not provide investment advice or any regulated financial service. It never suggests what to buy or sell, when to enter or exit, or how to allocate capital.

RULED analyses whether you are following the rules you set. It never decides what those rules should be. It will tell you that a trade exceeds your own risk limit; it will not tell you what that limit ought to be. Every rule in your rulebook is one you wrote yourself, and every trading decision remains yours.

4. The Discipline Score measures behaviour, not performance

The Discipline Score describes how closely you followed your own rules. It is deliberately independent of profit: it is possible to score 100 during a losing week, and to score poorly during a profitable one.

A high score is not an indication of skill, and past adherence to your rules does not predict future results. Figures such as “losses potentially avoided” are estimates based on the limits you stated, not measurements of money actually saved.

5. Enforcement is best-effort and can fail

Warnings, cooldowns and application locks depend on systems outside our control. They may not trigger, may trigger late, or may fail to lift. Among the reasons:

  • your broker's interface being delayed, restricted or unavailable
  • loss of connectivity on your device or ours
  • changes in how your operating system handles app restrictions
  • permissions being revoked, deliberately or accidentally
  • trading from a device on which RULED was never configured
  • defects in our own software

Never treat RULED as your only safeguard. RULED does not replace any broker-level risk controls available to you. You remain responsible for configuring and using those controls as appropriate.

6. A lock closes the application, and cannot tell why you opened it

Enforcement cuts both ways, and this is the limitation you most need to understand before you rely on it.

RULED locks access to a trading application. It operates at application level and has no way of knowing whether you are opening the app to place a new trade, to close one, to move a stop, or simply to look at your account. While a lock is active you may be unable to open that application for any of those reasons.

If you hold open positions, you must maintain an independent means of reaching your broker — their web platform on a device RULED does not manage, or their telephone dealing desk — so that you can always manage or reduce existing exposure. Paid plans may include override mechanisms, but no software can guarantee availability at the exact moment you need it.

7. Your obligations remain yours

You are solely responsible for complying with your broker's terms and, if you trade for a proprietary trading firm, with that firm's rules and drawdown limits.

RULED does not independently verify or enforce the complete rules of your broker or proprietary trading firm. If you choose to reproduce some of those limits in your RULED rulebook, you remain responsible for ensuring they are accurate and up to date.

8. No liability for trading losses

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any trading loss — whether it followed a warning that did not arrive, trading activity that occurred while a warning or lock was expected to be active, or a lock that prevented you from accessing your trading application when you wanted to trade. Our full limitation of liability is set out in the Terms of Service.

9. If trading has stopped being a choice

RULED is a tool for self-discipline, not a treatment. If you recognise compulsive patterns in how you trade — chasing losses, hiding activity from people close to you, trading money you needed for something else — please speak to a qualified professional. A support service in your country will help more than any software can.

[Before launch: add real, verified helpline references for each country where RULED is offered. Do not publish a generic or invented contact.]
